Hi, I’m Cathy.
I’m a creative coach, professional artist and creative interlude facilitator.
I’ve been creative and intuitive for as long as I can remember. For more than 30 years I’ve explored paint, colour and texture — a place to play, express and come home to myself.
Alongside that has always been a natural ability to listen deeply and ask the questions that help people see things differently. I trained and certified as a coach in 2026, but I didn’t suddenly become one. I simply recognised something that had always been there.
Creativity is your birthright
After my Contemporary Arts degree, I ran one-day art workshops at Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre. Every session sold out. We became known as the noisy room: music, laughter, colour and playful prompts. People arrived nervous, unsure they were creative enough. By the end of the day they left glowing, surprised at how easy it was to make marks on canvas with paint.
Watching that again and again, I saw what I’ve always believed: you don’t need talent, or anyone’s permission, to call yourself creative. Sometimes all you need is the space to begin.
My road hasn’t been an easy one, and I won’t pretend otherwise. I was very sick as a child, and I live with a health condition that has meant many operations and, every so often, weeks of rest and rehab. There has been loss, a painful divorce, and a time when I had to start again and re-educate myself at university. When my father was in palliative care, painting called me back. I went on to work as a support worker, caring for people living with dementia and sitting beside others in the last stage of life. It was meaningful work, but it cost my body, and when my doctor told me I had to stop, I came home to my art, rebuilt my self-belief and trained as a coach.
I wish I’d had someone like me when I was walking through all of it, trying to work it out on my own. It would have been a godsend. I didn’t, but now I can walk beside others as they navigate their lives and find their way back to creativity.
